Vibration training was originally developed in the 60s.The Russian aerospace industry came up with this technology in order to prevent muscle and bone density atrophy during longer stays in space.
Meanwhile vibration training is used more and more in sports and heath facilities as well as the home. Vibration training is an excellent addition to cardiovascular and weight training - it enhances muscle strength, coordination, blood flow, bone density and fat metabolism. For the elderly vibration training can serve as fall prophylaxis.
The following criteria are important when distinguishing the vibration plates' differences in quality: features, adjustabilty of different frequency/amplitude and duration levels, stability and vibration.
Crucial features are the exercise space provided, the motor's watt/hp output, the number of displays (top/bottom), existance of a vibration damping mat, presence of an exercise poster, etc.
Whereas the vibration plate's stability is determined by the kind of materials used and thickness of the frame, the vibration quality depends on the type of vibration and the amplitude among other things.
