Tacx Real Life DVD Giant of the Provence - France

The legendary mountain Mont Ventoux, known as the "Gigant of the Provence", is situated in the southeast of France, an area, dried up because of scorching heat.
This very diversified and harmonic route of the Tacx Real Life DVD Giant of the Provence - France consists of two longer alternative parts which pass an easy area around the famous mountain and finally the ascent to the peak of the MONT VENTOUX.

The famous gradient is a great challenge - but, first of all, you can start easily. The start is placed in VAISON approximately 27km from the village Bédoin. This part of the tour gives the possibility to prepare your legs for the most difficult ascent. As an alternative, you can choose the second starting route which passes the southeastern edge of a very old volcano to the "GORGES DES NESQUE"-route to the beginning of the actual gradient in Bédoin - a distance of 46km. The whole route length is approximately 70km of which the first 46km lead through an easy terrain. You pass ravines, charming rustic villages, and violet lavender fields. They are a pleasant compensation in contrast to the difficult, 22km long ascent to the weather station of the Mount Ventoux. The official start of the ascent is in Bédoin on the white line on the street. The first 5km of the ascent are relatively easy until you reach the stud farm ST.ESTÈVE. Here, the road turns sharply left and the actual ascent starts right here. The biggest part of the ascent runs along a winding road through the forest including a challenging steepness. After approximately 8 km through the forest, the environment changes immediately. Now you can have a first view on the weather station on the peak as soon as your eyes are used to the white moon landscape, the famous landmark of the Mont Ventoux.
