Fit for Fun crosstrainer test in the April 2005 issue:
In the April 2005 issue, Germany's largest fitness magazine Fit for Fun tested together with the Cologne Institute for Prevention and Aftercare (IPN) the crosstrainer selection from brand manuafcturers.
A good picture of the crosstrainer market was presented in the categories Crosstrainers up to 1000,-- Euros and Crosstrainers up to 2000,-- Euros. Operation, braking system, movement pattern and features of the training computer were the decisive factors for the evaluations.

Fit for Fun rating in the category crosstrainers up to 1000,-- Euros:
1. Place: Kettler Crosstrainer Ergometer XTR1, overall rating 2-3
Fit-for-Fun result: solid crosstrainer, that stands out through its nearly continuous resistance adjustment (ergometer).

2. Place: Tunturi Crosstrainer C4, overall rating 3+
Fit-for-Fun result: The C4 satisfactorily covers the main functions of a crosstrainer.

3. Place: Horizon Crosstrainer Andes 500, overall rating 3
Fit-for-Fun result: Elliptical trainer with shorter movement patterns (pedals and arms); therefore more suitable for smaller users.

Fit-for-Fun Fazit: Semi-professional elliptical, stands out through smooth pedal movements; few features (no heart rate controlled training)

Fit-for-Fun Fazit: Solid training equipment with good features; but room for improvement for coordination between pedal and arm movement.

Crosstrainer-Test of Stiftung Warentest 01/2003:
In the 01-2003 issue, Stiftung Warentest tested the categories crosstrainer as well as crosstrainer-ergometer (crosstrainer with exact watt display).
In the category Crosstrainer-Ergometer, the Kettler Crosstrainer-Ergometer CTR1 was the winner by a large margin (In the meantime, the further improved successor, the Kettler Crosstrainer Ergometer CTR2 is available!), followed by the Daum ergo_lyps Fitness!
The Kettler Crosstrainer Condor won in the category Crosstrainers (The Improved successor Kettler Crosstrainer Vito XL is available!)
